Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 26, 2026 | Last Updated: August 26, 2026
1. Scope and Data Controller
Salama Solutions, operating as Just My Type (“we”, “us”, or “our”), is the data controller for personal data processed through our website, mobile application, WhatsApp experience, in-app chat, and related services. This Policy explains how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect personal data, and the choices available to you.
We process personal data in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and other applicable privacy laws. This Policy does not replace the privacy notices of independent services such as WhatsApp, Flutterwave, Meta, Google, Firebase, Cloudinary, or advertising providers.
2. Personal Data We Collect
- Account and contact data: name, phone number, email address, password credentials, profile photo, and account identifiers.
- Profile and matching data: age, gender, location, relationship preferences, height, occupation, qualifications, income information, lifestyle preferences, and religion or religious preferences.
- Sensitive and verification data: religious beliefs and, if you apply for JMT Professionals, professional certificates, licences, bank statements, payslips, and application-review information.
- Communications and safety data: in-app chat content, WhatsApp interactions, selected contact method, reports, ratings, and records of moderation or support requests.
- Payment and transaction data: wallet balance, payment reference, purchase and subscription status, and credit usage. Our payment providers handle payment-card and bank-payment details.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, browser or device information, app or website activity, push-notification token, cookies, and similar identifiers collected through analytics, security, and advertising technologies.
We receive data directly from you, from your use of the Service, from payment providers when they confirm a transaction, and from service providers that support our website, app, messaging, analytics, and security.
3. Why We Process Data and Our Lawful Bases
Depending on the activity, we rely on one or more of the following lawful bases:
- Contract: to create and administer your account, provide matches and chat, process wallet credits and subscriptions, and respond to support requests.
- Consent: where required, including for sensitive data, optional profile information, non-essential cookies or advertising technologies, and some communications. You may withdraw consent, although this may limit related features.
- Legitimate interests: to secure the Service, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms, improve the Service, and maintain a safe community, after considering your rights and interests.
- Legal obligation or claims: to meet applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, dispute-resolution, and law-enforcement requirements.
We use matching preferences to generate automated compatibility scores. These scores help show potential matches; they are not intended to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. You can change your preferences, stop using matching, or ask us for human review.
Before you can use matching or in-app chat, we ask for your explicit consent to process the profile, preference, and message data needed for those features. We record the date and Policy version associated with that consent. You may decline, in which case matching and chat remain unavailable.
4. How We Use Your Data
- Provide, personalise, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
- Generate matches and show relevant profile information to potential matches.
- Enable conversations, chosen contact methods, notifications, and customer support.
- Process payments, maintain wallet and subscription records, and prevent payment fraud.
- Review Professional applications and protect the integrity of verified-member features.
- Investigate reports, enforce our Terms, protect members, and comply with legal obligations.
- Measure website or app use and, where permitted, show or measure advertising.
5. How We Share Data
We do not sell personal data for money. We share personal data only as follows:
- Other members: profile information needed for matching and, when you choose to reveal it, your preferred off-platform contact method. Chat messages are shared with the people in that conversation.
- Service providers: Meta/WhatsApp for messaging and measurement, Flutterwave for payments, Firebase and Google for authentication, cloud messaging, chat, analytics, and infrastructure, and Cloudinary for uploaded images and verification documents.
- Advertising and measurement providers: our website may use Meta Pixel, Google/Firebase analytics, and advertising tags. These providers may receive online identifiers and page or event information under their own policies.
- Authorised personnel: employees, administrators, and contractors with a need to review reports, applications, payments, or support requests.
- Legal and safety recipients: regulators, law enforcement, advisers, insurers, or others where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transfers: a buyer, successor, or adviser in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Some providers process data outside Nigeria. Where a transfer is required, we use the safeguards required by applicable law, such as an adequate level of protection, contractual safeguards, or another lawful transfer mechanism.
6. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
We and our providers use cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies to operate the website and app, remember preferences, understand performance, prevent fraud, and measure advertising. Necessary technologies are used to provide the Service. We do not enable analytics or advertising technologies until you accept them through our consent prompt. You may reject optional technologies and continue using the Service; you may reopen the prompt and change your choice at any time.
7. Retention and Deletion
We keep account and profile data while your account is active. We delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed for the purposes described in this Policy, unless we need to retain it for legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or record-keeping purposes.
Professional verification files are reviewed by authorised personnel and are removed from our document storage after review where technically supported; we may retain a minimal application, decision, and audit record as necessary. Content already shared with another member, payment-provider records, reports, security logs, and backup copies may be retained for the applicable purpose and retention period.
You may request deletion through the Service or our User Data Deletion page. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of the processing of your personal data; object to processing based on legitimate interests; withdraw consent; request data portability; and request information or human intervention concerning automated processing. You may also opt out of non-essential marketing communications.
Email contact@justmytype.online from the email address linked to your account, or use the deletion page, to exercise a right. We aim to respond within one month or otherwise as required by law. You may lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you believe your rights have been infringed.
9. Children
The Service is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that a child has created an account, we will take steps to close the account and delete personal data as required by law. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data to us.
10. Security and Incidents
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data, including access controls, encryption in transit where supported, and restricted access to operational systems. No system is entirely secure. If a personal-data breach occurs, we will investigate, take remedial action, and notify affected people and regulators where required by applicable law.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our data practices or applicable law. We will post the revised Policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice for material changes where required.
